Last few weeks.

Over the last few weeks as most people have up and down the country we have had rain rain and more rain.Rivers swelling, fords over flowing,a river running down the street and wet feet.

This is outside my front door, lucky we have 3 steps up to the door.
Water coming off the fields.

     Iv done lots of sewing.

These 3 are to make a baby quilt for my friend who's son has just given her the first grandchild a little girl.
A rare photo of myself taken by Billy. Not sure I like it not keen on having my pic taken.
A certain little boy had a 3rd birthday.

      Happy, happy smiles for grandma.
    Birthday boy and his prezzie.
      And his cake.
     Billy enjoying some.
Some more sewing ready for Christmas.
A quilt that is nearly finished for the 3yr old to keep him warm this winter.
          Billy tucked up sleeping sound.
We have had a day at a rally.

     One excited little boy.

I have asked for one of these off Santa do you think I will get one?

I have sorted some of my little draws that hold ribbons and material.

 From this

 to this,not finished yet.
       From this
       To this.
Now you may of heard this on the news,4 or 5 houses on the east side of Whitby which are Victorian jet miners cottages have been affected by the recent bad weather and are having to be demolished. The land behind has slipped and pushing the houses forward, there is only one lady who lives there permanently the others are holiday cottages. If you look closely you can just see the red barriers in front of the houses the white painted ones at the top .They are having to take them down brick by brick for fear of them sliding and taking other houses with them. There will be a big hole there when they have gone and part of Whitby's history. It has just been on the news that in another part of the town in Henrietta street where the famous smoked kipper house and shop are just under the Abby is at risk as well,I do hope not that has been there for ever and would be greatly missed from far and wide.
This lovely piece of work is not mine it is the work of Sophie from http://fading-grace.blogspot.com/,I was the winner of her giveaway and this is what I won.Isn't she beautiful her new home is going to be on my Grandmas quilt that I have,it must be round about 40yrs old and still in good condition apart from 2 little bits on the edging that has started to fray and 2 little bits that are worn.I an going to try and cover it with patch work and this little lady will be in the centre for all to see.I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it but I have so much other sewing to do before Christmas that it will be a new year project for the winter evenings.
This is Grandmas quilt I washed it a couple of weeks ago as it had been in the Attic cupboard and got a bit dusty.

I love ribbons found these at a craft fair I went to a couple of weeks ago in a near by village.

Last but not least this is another quilt I am working on for middle grandson Lewis the blondie with the beautiful big blue eyes to keep him warm.

Well my friends I promised I would post these photos I do hope there are not to many for you.Im going to my bed now so I bid you a good night I hope you all keep warm and sleep well.
    Night night Love Jill xx

Chilly morning.

Good morning to you all. This is the sight I see out of the kitchen window this morning all cold crisp and fresh, healthy weather as my Dad would of said.I was up rather early this morning after a restless night again tut tut !!!! but never mind the days are longer and I can get more done and have time to sit blogging, sewing, reading or anything else I wish to do after a early start getting the household jobs done first and out of the way.
Iv not posted for a while but I do have lots of photos I want to share with you I just need to sort them out first I may get round to doing that later today,Iv done quite a bit of sewing which Id like to share with you so some pics of that as well.I was very lucky to win a giveaway last week over at http://fading-grace.blogspot.com/ it is beautiful so I will post a pic of that later for you to see,I am going to be busy.
My washer sounds as if it has just finished its last spin my last load for the day, don't think its going to get hung out tho it will probably just freeze out there today so Ill put it on the airer and in front of the fire,I have a tumble dryer but try not to use it too much and these clothes don't want to go in the tumbler anyway. So I will love you and leave you for now and return later this afternoon. What are you all getting up to today not mischief I hope or if you are enjoy it.Keep warm and happy my friends.bye for now.Love Jill xx

Dentist update.

We had a lovely drive to Scarborough this afternoon the sun was shining the wind was blowing the trees and leaves gently falling to the ground, they looked beautiful swirling  around the paths and roads in their golden colours.I don't have to have anything done at the dentist thank goodness, she took an xray of the crown that has bothered me and cannot see anything wrong I have to use a sensitive toothpaste, apparently I am brushing away my gums as I have very good oral hygiene I brush to much,ya cant do right for doing wrong can ya!!
I have spent a couple of hours sewing in my little room cosy and happy a few more squares sewn together for a quilt,I'm sat now posting this in front of the fire with a glass of wine and just about ready for my bed,so I will say a good night to you all and hope you all sleep well.
Love Jill xx

Mother Nature.

Well !! isn't that just typical, when I last popped in about 2hrs ago I told you it was a yuckey morning,it isn't now i'ts beautiful. We have blue skies and sunshine so it will be quite a nice drive to Scarborough this afternoon. I'll pop in tonight to let you know how I get on at the dentist.
Bye again for now, love Jill xx

Quick post.

Hello bloggy friends hope you are all well and warm. Its a real miserable day here today in North Yorkshire,no sunshine no blue clouds just grey skies and drizzle, yuck!I have a few jobs to do this morning when I can get myself out of the seat where I  am nice cosy warm, then its a trip to Scarborough for the dentist this afternoon.Scarborough is only about 20 miles from us but on a day like today it seems 120 miles away.I am having problems with one of my teeth that is crowned it hurts when I have a hot drink and now the weather is cold the cold air is making it hurt so Id better get it sorted. Then its back home to cook dinner for tonight and then I'm having a few hours in my little girlie attic room sewing, hubby and son have a film they want to watch tonight so I can just disappear and do what I want,WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!.   I bought some materials yesterday to make a quilt cover for my friends granddaughters cot and some for a quilt I'm going to make for my middle grandsons bed,and Iv also started a quilt for my nephews little girls bed, so Iv got plenty to keep me happy and out of mischief for a while.
Whatever you are doing  I hope you are keeping warm and have a good day.
Be back soon take care of yourselves love Jill xxx
