R is for Railway and Rural.

This is my first contribution to ABC Wednesday
I am so looking forward to being part of this weekly meme......I am also very fortunate in having Denise Nesbitt  as one of my best friends, so I can't wait to meet so many of the lovely bloggers she speaks of  x.

We live near a steam railway,it is in the north Yorkshire moors and is a very pretty journey,my 3 grandsons love it,always listening and looking for it.

Whilst on holiday in Glastonbury we visited the Rural life museum,I found it very interesting and loved all the kitchen equipment they used although I am glad I do not have to use it as I'd never get time for blogging.

Hope my first contribution will be read with interest and I look forward to reading lots of other contributions.

  1. Hi. Welcome to the club. Good first post. Yes, that Denise is ALL RIGHT!

  2. Welcome to ABC, I like your first entry!

My R is about Raking Leaves, please come and see.

  3. It certainly was interesting, Jill. As a child they were all steam railways - how I wish I'd paid them more attention at the time! But my memories don't go back to much of the kitchen equipment though we did have a mangle for wringing the water out of the clothes.

  4. P.S. I'd like to follow your blog but there isn't a Followers list that I can see. Any chance of adding one? :)

  5. P.P.S. Sorry - found it - at the bottom - I was expecting it to be in the side bar.

  6. Welcome aboard Jill - looking forward to your future weeks. A great band of people here who you will get to know I am sure.
    Thanks again

  7. Hi Jill
Great post I love Steam Trains, how lucky you are to live so close. Also enjoyed your previous post. Glad to see you had a great time in Glastonbury, it's a wonderful place isn't it, thats why we spend alot of time there:)it has such a pull. Lucky you meeting Kath, I'm also hoping to meet up with her too!
Thanks for your lovely comment Jill means alot.
    Have a great week......

  8. A steam-powered train is a rare commodity where I am in BC. They always remind me of an Agatha Christie novel. How wonderful to be able see it coming around the bend and even better to ride in it through the countryside. :)

  9. Life looks hard back then, doesn't it? But then it was simple and didn't have the complexities and complications we are having today. Thanks for dropping by my nook. I imagine you by your fireplace blogging. Now I miss England!

  10. ineteresting photos. thanks for sharing them.

  11. Hi Jill - thanks for visiting my blog. Nice to meet you. I shall put you on my side bar so that we can keep in contact.
