Robin Hoods bay.

Hi friends, I have again being absent from blog land for far too long, I do hope you will let me off !!! I now am free from the dreaded boot that was part of me for 13 very long weeks. I was beginning to think I was never getting rid of Frankenstein. I'm still having physio, starting  rehabilitation classes next week to strengthen the muscles in my leg and my tendon, I'm getting there its slow but sure.
This week I have being house sitting for some friends who have gone to Dubai for a holiday. The house is in a lovely village, Robin Hoods Bay on the coast not far from Whitby North Yorkshire. Its a little fishing village with like many a village in Yorkshire, a very steep hill to climb. The top of the hill sees lots of different houses which a lot of them provide B&B for the visitors. On the way down the hill and at the bottom you can find lots of lovely cute little lanes to wander along looking at all the quaint little cottages steeped in history and character. There are so many of them its like being in a  colourful happy story telling little warren. I went for a walk with my Mum yesterday which was lovely because she and Dad spent a lot of time down in the Bay when they were younger so it brought back lots of precious memories for her. As we wandered around I took lots of photos on my phone and thought that you may like to see a few of them, I wont post them all just a few of the ones I thought deserved to be seen.

As you can see there are lots of lanes, unusual door ways and pretty little houses.

One of Mum deep in thought.

Grape vine growing along a wall and laden with fruit at this time of the year.

Hope you have enjoyed the walk around Robin Hoods Bay with me, I have a few days left here yet so I will be going down the hill again, I will see what other photos I can take to show you. Hope you are all fighting fit and enjoying life. Take care my friends love to you all, Jill xxx

June.

Good morning lovely people I do hope you are well.  Well the last day of May went out with a beautiful day and evening we had sunshine all of the day it was a special day me thinks. This morning the 1st of June and it is over cast but I'm not going to be negative we are going to get some sunshine today I just know we are I can feel it in me bones as my old grandma used to say.
I haven't a lot planned for today just going to see what comes of the day, I do have to nip to the next village to get some vegetables our little shop in the village don't do veg's they say that not enough people buy them then they go off which is sense really but Id love to be able just to nip out of my door to the shop which is only 1minute away, that is if the railway don't see me and open the gates for the train , I'm sure that they have an alarm from my house door to the signal box that says" here she comes quick open the gates", because in the summer when I just need to nip quick to the shop for something which should take me all of 3 minutes ends up taking at least 10.Never mind if the boys are with me they love it seeing the train up close as it crosses the road they are impressive monsters just a little noisy sometimes. Billy eldest grandson will be 8yrs old  this month he is growing up so fast it really doesn't seem 5 Min's since we where waiting for his entrance into the world .He did surprise us by arriving 5 weeks early and having a few problems but he got over them and is a bright healthy happy nearly 8 yr old today. When he was small he had a mass of lovely blond curls but as he has got older his hair has got stronger and the curls have got a bit out of hand and don't curl like they used too. Billy has had his hair quite short for sometime now but has decided he wants it long and curly which is taking sometime to get where he wants it bless him, I think he sees himself as a little surfer dude which would be good as he has had a go at surfing when they where on holiday in Cornwall a couple of yrs ago and mummy said he was good at it. Here are a very small few of my favourite photos of Billy as he has got older I do have hundreds of photos of the boys and I'm sure I will be taking thousands more of them, well that's what grandmas do don't they?

As you can see he is a happy fun little guy who is going to grow up handsome and break a few hearts with those eyes, but I would say that wouldn't I ?
Well! that took me right off track of what I was saying and now Iv forgot like ya do! I think we have a bit of blue sky peeping out so that sunshine is going to come out and play. Its just 9am now so I'm going to get me bum off of me seat and leave you all in peace and go get me veg's. Have a lovely day and let me know what you are going to be doing this weekend.
Have fun love Jill xx

What was it ??

Good evening bloggers hope you are all well.
A couple of weeks ago I had a strange experience which something very similar has happened again tonight.I do believe in the spirit world and that there is an afterlife and that when I die my loved ones will be there to meet me,I'm not getting all weird on you here promise. As I said a couple of weeks ago I was in the bathroom I had just had a shower and was running a bath for Grandson Billy, the door was shut and I had my back to the door as I was just stood doing nothing but watching the water run, when I felt what I thought was someone touch me on the hip.At first I thought Billy had crept up behind me to make me jump but when I turned around nobody was there and the door was still shut.No I was not scared by it I have felt things before but this was definitely a I felt a touch touch if you know what I mean.  Now tonight as I have sat at my dressing table to dry my hair after yet again just getting out of the shower,I had a feeling of someone putting their arm around me as if to comfort me,and in a strange way it did.Nobody was upstairs no windows open for a draft to have blown across me I have thought of all things like that,it wasn't the heat from my hairdryer as I had just switched it off, it was a feeling a comfort feeling.
I am putting it all down to stress and the spirit world letting me know that everything is going to be ok and that things will get better,I do hope I'm right. There maybe another explanation for it I am open to any suggestion's that anyone may have.I have had feelings before of my face being touched and a medium once told me it was my Grandma giving me a kiss which I thought was lovely and maybe it is her that is comforting me,thank you Grandma if it is you I love and miss you .
Well !!! now I have told you about that and you know a bit more about me I'll have a moan about this cold flaming weather we are having, just when is it going to go away????I am fed up of feeling cold and I  mean cold, freezing cold. For months now I have had a cold patch on my back and it just wont go away.I wear a t shirt and camisole under my tops that I have on as well as a jumper and I still feel it,is it old age creeping upon me, should I be wearing a shawl,l I do sometimes when I am sat and feel cold.WHEN ! we get some good weather and it starts heating up a bit I will not feel it but just when is it going to happen ? It started off here today dry with the odd blue bit of sky and a ray of sunshine but it did not last long before the gray sky put in its appearance and that was it sleet ,rain cold more cold and more rain, real misery weather which is what I think I am turning into a misery, always moaning about the weather I'm getting fed up of hearing me moan,so please can we have some sun and I promise I will never moan again.
I am going to warm some milk up now and go to my bed and read my book my Mum has given me ,it is called Breaking the silence and is by Diane Chamberlain I'v not read any of her books before so its all new to me.
Hope you all sleep well and are keeping warm, night night sleep tight.Love Jill xx

Last few weeks.

Over the last few weeks as most people have up and down the country we have had rain rain and more rain.Rivers swelling, fords over flowing,a river running down the street and wet feet.

This is outside my front door, lucky we have 3 steps up to the door.
Water coming off the fields.

     Iv done lots of sewing.

These 3 are to make a baby quilt for my friend who's son has just given her the first grandchild a little girl.
A rare photo of myself taken by Billy. Not sure I like it not keen on having my pic taken.
A certain little boy had a 3rd birthday.

      Happy, happy smiles for grandma.
    Birthday boy and his prezzie.
      And his cake.
     Billy enjoying some.
Some more sewing ready for Christmas.
A quilt that is nearly finished for the 3yr old to keep him warm this winter.
          Billy tucked up sleeping sound.
We have had a day at a rally.

     One excited little boy.

I have asked for one of these off Santa do you think I will get one?

I have sorted some of my little draws that hold ribbons and material.

 From this

 to this,not finished yet.
       From this
       To this.
Now you may of heard this on the news,4 or 5 houses on the east side of Whitby which are Victorian jet miners cottages have been affected by the recent bad weather and are having to be demolished. The land behind has slipped and pushing the houses forward, there is only one lady who lives there permanently the others are holiday cottages. If you look closely you can just see the red barriers in front of the houses the white painted ones at the top .They are having to take them down brick by brick for fear of them sliding and taking other houses with them. There will be a big hole there when they have gone and part of Whitby's history. It has just been on the news that in another part of the town in Henrietta street where the famous smoked kipper house and shop are just under the Abby is at risk as well,I do hope not that has been there for ever and would be greatly missed from far and wide.
This lovely piece of work is not mine it is the work of Sophie from http://fading-grace.blogspot.com/,I was the winner of her giveaway and this is what I won.Isn't she beautiful her new home is going to be on my Grandmas quilt that I have,it must be round about 40yrs old and still in good condition apart from 2 little bits on the edging that has started to fray and 2 little bits that are worn.I an going to try and cover it with patch work and this little lady will be in the centre for all to see.I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it but I have so much other sewing to do before Christmas that it will be a new year project for the winter evenings.
This is Grandmas quilt I washed it a couple of weeks ago as it had been in the Attic cupboard and got a bit dusty.

I love ribbons found these at a craft fair I went to a couple of weeks ago in a near by village.

Last but not least this is another quilt I am working on for middle grandson Lewis the blondie with the beautiful big blue eyes to keep him warm.

Well my friends I promised I would post these photos I do hope there are not to many for you.Im going to my bed now so I bid you a good night I hope you all keep warm and sleep well.
    Night night Love Jill xx
